Prof. Daniela Massi’s (UNIFI) Contribution at the 6th Meeting of Dual Event DIAD-DIAL in Dubai

From 14th to 16th February 2025, Prof. Daniela Massi, representing UNIFI, one of our dedicated MELCAYA partners, participated in the 6th Meeting of Dual Event, which took place in Dubai, UAE. This prestigious event brought together leading experts in the fields of dermatopathologist and artificial intelligence, providing a platform for insightful discussions on the integration of Digital Pathology and AI technologies in healthcare.

Prof. Massi’s presentation focused on the critical role of ground truth data, focusing on the challenges of interobserver pathologists’ concordance in melanocytic lesions diagnosis and its impact on the development of AI tools for melanoma histopathological image analysis. She highlighted ongoing advancements in digital pathology and the challenges of ensuring accuracy and reliability in AI-driven tools for melanoma detection and diagnosis.

The event also provided an excellent platform to raise awareness of the MELCAYA project and its mission. MELCAYA is dedicated to advancing melanoma research and treatment by developing a Pan-European digital platform integrated with AI-based tools to enhance early detection and therapeutic strategies. Prof. Massi’s participation helped disseminate the project’s objectives, fostering discussions and potential collaborations.
